Fresh Apple Cake

This is my favorite cake in the summers, it has such a wonderful texture and flavor! I used to make this in Vegas as well!

1¼ to 1½ cup Salad Oil

2½ cup flour

2 cups sugar

1 tsp. soda

2 eggs

2 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp. salt

3 cups sliced raw apples

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 cup chopped pecans

½ tsp nutmeg

Stir all ingredients together and pour into a 13x9 inch pan. Bake at 350º for 55 to 60 minutes.

  1. I'm sorry, this is probably a dumb question but what is Salad Oil?

  2. Sorry, this is an older recipe from my Great Grandma. Salad Oil is also known as Canola Oil or Vegetable Oil, etc. Another great way to make this a little bit lower in Fat, is to substitute Oil or Applesauce in any recipe.
